Old-world charm and character, with helpful staff. Shower cleanliness needs improvement.

how lovely! the antiques make the rooms feel so 'charming', but one would expect a cooked breakfast option like an omelette for such a 'prestigious' hotel. Also, the walk from the Camino is uphill on a main road—so not ideal at all. next time, I'd expect a better room for my troubles. almost gave a good review, but just couldn’t.

The food presentation stood out, especially for a simple breakfast. The overall layout and charm of the rooms offered a pleasant atmosphere.
Breakfast choices were limited, featuring only overripe bananas without any other fresh fruit. The hotel lacked sufficient signage for navigation, making it difficult to locate despite being on a friendly pedestrian route. Additionally, one of the emergency exits was noted to be locked, which is concerning in case of emergencies.

Staying at Antsotegi was a delight. The peaceful countryside setting offered beautiful green scenery perfect for relaxing. The staff were incredibly friendly, treating me like a valued guest. The breakfast spread stood out with a generous selection of pastries, fruits, and freshly squeezed orange juice. The shower in my room was superb, featuring impressive jets that felt amazing after a long day of walking the Camino. Although it took about 25 minutes to reach from the Camino route, the lovely trail along the river made the walk enjoyable. The building itself had a unique charm, a restored industrial vibe that added to the experience. On the downside, the proximity to the Camino could be improved. The walk back after a long day felt a bit taxing, especially being a bit further from the main route. However, the overall warmth and hospitality made up for it.

great stay but some minor issues
The superior double room was exceptionally comfortable, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of walking. I loved the attention to detail from the staff, particularly when they recommended local wines and delicacies that truly enhanced our Basque experience. The stunning mountain view from the terrace added a magical touch to our evening meals.
A bit off the main path.
